Meaning of the name "Tashfeen"
Dear brothers & sisters,
Assalam u Alaikum wa Rahmatullah wa Barakatuh,
I hope you are fine. I was wondering if anyone knows the meaning of the name Tashfeen (pronounced as Taash-feen). I don't even know where this name came from. Some say its an arabic name, while others say its an african name.... pointing out the name of a muslim commander Yusuf bin Tashfeen (If you know who he was!). Well, I asked the Sheikh of my local Masjid, who is an arabic speaking person from Egypt, and he didn't know. He also searched in the arabic dictionary, but didn't find. All he said was that he doesn't think its an arabic word. So far what I have heard from different people of Karachi, its meaning is 'Raham dil' (Kind-Hearted) or 'Bulandi' (Height). These are two very different meanings, but I want to find out which one is true, or if neither is true!! Please help me in finding out the true meaning of my name Tashfeen! Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Meaning of TASHFEEN

The Arabic language is so vast and generous it has root meanings for almost all the words, I am afraid why the Shaik from your local masjid didn't give at least the clue. Anyway with my little knowledge I am sure to have originate the meaning based from arabic as "HALE & HEALTHY, ENERGETIC, VITAL, DYNAMIC". Trust this will satisfies you.

Dear TAM, I have seen two name sound same, TASHFEEN and TASHQEEN,
some says it was Yousuf Bin Tashfeen and some says Yousuf Bin Tashqeen. in urdu I red Tashqeen which means "kind hearted"
One which I know is that : He is a great hero. He takes all the credit for prolonging the Muslims' reign over Andalusia for further 3 centuries after their reign was about to end. This hero came into action when he was 90 years old. He found Andalusia torn between the reigns of the petty kings after 5 centuries have elapsed over the Muslims reign. At that time the European armies where gathering forces to destroy the Muslims reign in Andalusia. So this hero did not stand there watching. He got on his horse, at his very old age, and placed a plan to protect Andalusia.He led the armies and crushed the enemies in a crucial battle called the Battle of Zalaqua. Hence, he prolonged the Muslims reign over Andalusia for further 3 centuries? And all because of an old man, 90 years old.
He proved that his life didn't just end.
I belive its problem of Accent, we are pronouncing in Tashfeen may be its some thing els.
