Scholars differ on this name
Spelled with ص (صبحان) it means 'bright-faced, handsome', which is good, but it sounds exactly like سبحان, a word used only for Allah. Darul Uloom Deoband advised choosing another name, though Banuri Town lists it as good.
ص کے ساتھ (صبحان) اس کا مطلب 'روشن چہرے والا' ہے جو اچھا ہے، مگر یہ بالکل 'سبحان' جیسا بولا جاتا ہے جو اللہ کے لیے خاص ہے۔ دار العلوم دیوبند نے دوسرا نام رکھنے کو کہا، جبکہ بنوری ٹاؤن کی فہرست میں یہ اچھا نام ہے۔
In the Quran
قَالُوا۟ يَٰلُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَن يَصِلُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكَ ۖ فَأَسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلَّيْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا ٱمْرَأَتَكَ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ مُصِيبُهَا مَآ أَصَابَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ ٱلصُّبْحُ ۚ أَلَيْسَ ٱلصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيبٍۢ
فرشتوں نے کہا کہ لوط ہم تمہارے پروردگار کے فرشتے ہیں۔ یہ لوگ ہرگز تم تک نہیں پہنچ سکیں گے تو کچھ رات رہے سے اپنے گھر والوں کو لے کر چل دو اور تم میں سے کوئی شخص پیچھے پھر کر نہ دیکھے۔ مگر تمہاری بیوی کہ جو آفت ان پر پڑنے والی ہے وہی اس پر پڑے گی۔ ان کے (عذاب کے) وعدے کا وقت صبح ہے۔ اور کیا صبح کچھ دور ہے؟
(The messengers) said: O Lot! Lo! we are messengers of thy Lord; they shall not reach thee. So travel with thy people in a part of the night, and let not one of you turn round - (all) save thy wife. Lo! that which smiteth them will smite her (also). Lo! their tryst is (for) the morning. Is not the morning nigh?
